DENISON, Tex. (KXII) Trinity Lighthouse Church will be starting up an Adopt-a-Cop program with the Denison Police Department.

It’s a nationwide organization that is just now being brought to Texoma.

Members of the community can ask to be paired with a member of the police department as their prayer partner. They plan to eventually include EMS and fire rescue.

They announced this new program at their 9/11 service Wednesday evening in an effort to show respect and support to first responders.

Sean Vanderveer with Trinity Lighthouse explains why it’s something for the community to consider in memory of lives lost on this day 18 years ago.

“I think this is a great opportunity for our church to be able to honor our men and women who serve, and to be able to stand in agreement with them in prayer and just to be able to support them in another way,” says Vanderveer.

Anyone in the community can get involved by visiting the Adopt-a-Cop website or by contacting the Trinity Lighthouse Church office at 903-465-7268.
