The city of Denison has officially named its next mayor.

The Denison City Council passed an ordinance Monday to finalize the three uncontested races.

Janet Gott, who previously held place six on the city's council, will be mayor once current Mayor Jared Johnson's term ends in May.

There were also two uncontested council seats, Teresa Adams is re-elected for place one and Obie Greenleaf for place two.

The city said five people are running to fill Gott's former council seat. That election will be in May.
