DENISON, Tex. (KXII) The city of Denison held its first quarterly town hall meeting this evening.
The meeting was set up in an 'open house' style, beginning with a brief presentation updating citizens on current city projects. That was followed by city departments stationed at tables ready to answer questions and engage with the community.
Citizens had the chance to speak with representatives from police, parks, and public works, among others.
Sunny Mackey, the director of community engagement, was happily surprised by the turn out of over 100 citizens for their first meeting.
"We want people to feel comfortable and be able to get to know what's going on and ask questions. Sometimes when they come to city hall, you know, people are on schedules and those types of things and this is...we're devoted, we're here, we're gonna stay here until their questions are answered," said Mackey.
Mackey said they plan to hold every town hall meeting in an engaging way.
