Suspect arrested for unrelated charge in downtown hit and run

DENISON, Tex. (KXII) - Police say the suspect in a downtown Denison hit and and run was arrested early Sunday morning.

Denison police say the crash happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police say a woman was headed west in a convertible on Main Street when she hit a motorcyclist going north on Austin Avenue and fled the scene.

Officers say the man riding the motorcycle was taken to the hospital for his injuries.

He told News 12 he suffered road rash, several stitches in his leg and staples in his head, but is expected to be okay.

He said he remembers a woman running a red light and hitting him.

Police say the alleged suspect was stopped in Sherman by DPS troopers later that night for an unrelated charge, and taken into custody.

Denison police say they'll send the case to the District Attorney's office.
