Details emerge in Pauls Valley woman's molestation case
PAULS VALLEY, Okla. (KXII) -- The adult daughter of a Pauls Valley pastor is accused of molesting a 10-year-old boy in the pastor's house.
"It's sickening, but sad," one Pauls Valley resident said when she learned 30-year-old Stormy Ledbetter had been arrested accused of molesting a 10-year-old boy.
Ledbetter is the daughter of the current pastor at Pauls Valley Church of the Nazarene.
"I was shocked and surprised because I go to that church, and they're good people as far as I know," an anonymous parishioner said.
Pauls Valley police say the alleged abuse was reported last October.
"We began our investigation, it's been long and slow of course we had to have the child forensically interviewed in Norman at the Marietta House," Pauls Valley Assistant Police Chief Derrick Jolley said. "Of course, after disclosures were made there we've continued to investigate."
Jolley said Stormy's father worked as a chaplain for the Pauls Valley police department prior to the allegations. He and the department have parted ways since then.
He says Ledbetter lives with her parents, which is where police say the abuse occurred.
"We are concerned about conflict of interest, not knowing what had transpired where the case was gonna take us, so we did hear there [were] allegations that some incidents in his home, which is where she resides," Jolley said.
But members of the congregation we talked to say they'll still attend the church.
"I've know Rhonda and Claude for almost 17-18 years and they're just not that kind of people," Paula Jennision said. "I would not have a problem sending my kids, continue to send them down there to the church."
Ledbetter remains in the Garvin County Jail on $150,000 bond. If convicted she faces up to 40 years in prison.
