Springer, Okla. (KXII) - In two weeks visitors can enjoy watching classic and newly released films from the comfort of their car or lawn chairs in Springer.
"We decided why not do an outdoor cinema, why not really make this a place where it's fun and inviting and people get excited to be around," David Horner said, "It was collaborated on by our whole team to get to where we are today."
Co-owner of Cool Breeze RV Cinema and Resort David Horner says it took about 7 months to make the quarter of a million dollar project from a plan to reality.
"We wanted to develop a property so we felt that an RV park would be good fit out here in Springer but we wanted to make it with a twist on it
- to make it an attraction if you will," Horner said.
And that twist is a drive in theater which fits a little over 60 cars and is open for anyone to enjoy for a $4 admission fee.
The 19-year-old co-owner and current student at the University of Oklahoma says they opened the RV resort two months ago and have since been working on the drive in.
"Anybody that wants to go to the old drive in cinema concept with a great place to kind of have that nostalgia - just to come out and experience that, everybody is invited," Horner said. "We look forward to having them."
The drive in is located off of Highway 77 just across the street from Springer Schools and is the first of it's kind in the county.
The first film they show will be I Can Only Imagine which will show on July 13th at 8 pm.
"We really do love the people here and they've made it so easy to just come in and just be welcoming from start to finish on this project," Horner said.
