Man arrested in Lamar Co. on multiple charges after lengthy car chase

PARIS, Tex. (KXII) - Paris police arrested two people Thursday after a chase that took police to Red River County and ended in Detroit, Texas.

25-year-old Ryan Lewis England as arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, tamper or fabricate physical evidence and credit card abuse.

The second occupant was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Around 11:30 a.m. officers spotted a stolen truck on SE 12th St in Paris and attempted a traffic stop.

The truck did not stop, and instead led police on a chase for 41 minutes, with speeds reaching 95 miles per hour. During the chase the suspects threw items out of the car which were later recovered by police.

Officers say the suspects entered Red River County and attempted to run away on foot, but were caught soon after. Both were booked into the Lamar County Jail.

During the foot pursuit a Paris officer suffered a minor foot injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
