Elderly Carter Co. homeowners targeted in home repair contractor scam

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) - A Hugo man arrested last week stands accused of scamming a pair of elderly Carter County homeowners out of thousands.

Investigators from Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter’s office say back in October, Joshua Wright, 43, took nearly $15,000 from an elderly man for repairs to his home caused by storm damage, then never did the work, causing more damage to his home.

Wright pulled the same scam on another elderly Carter County woman in June, bilking her out of more than $9,000.

If convicted, Wright faces up to 30 years in prison.
