Victim warns of scammers posing as electric workers in Bryan Co.

BOKCHITO, Okla. (KXII) - An elderly Bokchito woman is short hundreds of dollars she'd be saving for years.

Two men posing as electrical company workers tricked her and drove off with her with money.

"So it just makes you really uneasy, and it made me mad as hell," the woman said.

She didn't want to show her face on camera for fear it could happen again.

She said now, she's even afraid to go to the store.

Around 1 p.m. Saturday she got a knock at her home on North Hamilton Street.

A man wearing a helmet and construction vest said he was with OG&E, but didn't say his name.

He told her he'd noticed her electrical bills wavering and said he could fix her gauge for a deposit of $121 cash.

"And I laid the hundred dollar bill on the back of the chair there, and had my wallet and I got out a 20 and a one and laid that down, and even the change," she said.

She said he pulled out a tape measure and told her to take it to the furthest electrical outlet in the house.

When she brought it back, he handed it to the other man who went back outside.

Then the man told her his boss called so they had to go, but they'd get back to her soon.

"And as he walked out, he said 'make sure you lock your door,'" she said. "I went in there to put my wallet back in my purse and I noticed it had been unzipped on the sides there."

That's when she saw two envelopes were missing with $800 inside.

Years of saving her tax returns, so she could buy her own tombstone.

"It's just me and my brother left. I had two boys, and they drowned back in '85. And mom and dad are both gone. So I was going to buy me a tombstone to put beside their tombstones," she said.

She said she won't be letting any more strangers in the house, even if they seem like a good person.

"Just be on the lookout and don't trust nobody. This world is getting in one mess."

Police say the suspects are two middle-aged white men with short hair.

One was about 6 feet tall wearing a hard hat and safety vest with red tennis shoes.

The other was around 5 feet 7 inches with a T-shirt and jeans.

They were driving a black pickup.
