BELLS, Tex. (KXII) The Bells Future Farmers of America chapter lost several pigs in a barn fire.

The fire is believed to have taken place sometime between 10pm Friday and 9am Saturday.

The fire was out when firefighters arrived Saturday morning.

The cause is undetermined but the Bells Fire Chief says heat lamps were turned on Friday night.

Eleven pigs perished in the fire and the community is working to together to support the students.

"They raise these animals for the experience and responsibility but a lot of students use it as means to pay for college so there was some financial loss by students today as well," said Joe Moore, Bells ISD Superintendent.

The county fire investigator will take over the case.
