Texas Attorney General warns public of IRS email scam

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is warning of an IRS email scam reported all across the state.

Paxton says emails have the subject line titled, "Tax Transcripts" and include links to dangerous malware that can steal financial information.

They are being sent from IRS impersonators, using fake tax documents.

The Attorney General's office said the IRS will never call or email demanding payments.

If you receive one of these emails and are unsure whether or not it is a scam, you can call the IRS directly by dialing 800-829-1040.
