Families file suit in fatal Grayson Co. DWI crash

COLLINSVILLE, Tex. (KXII) - Four Denton County families are suing the employer of a truck driver accused in a Grayson County DWI crash that killed a teen and left three others seriously hurt last month.

In the complaint attorneys for the families allege 34-year-old Christopher Downing of South Texas was on the job the afternoon of July 17th driving an unregistered and unlicensed commercial truck when the crash happened on US Highway 377 near Collinsville.

The complaint states Downing was under the influence of alcohol and narcotics.

They're seeking damages in excess of $10 million from Downing's employer, Diamond Energy Services of Tulsa.

Downing remains in the Grayson County Jail facing manslaughter and assault charges on bonds totaling $500,000.
