Fannin Co. deputy injured in line of duty crash

FANNIN COUNTY, Tex. (KXII) - A Fannin County deputy is out of the hospital after a rollover crash on the way to an emergency call.

Lt. Frank Deater says Saturday night Deputy Matthew Morales was responding to a domestic call in Trenton where there was a man with a gun.

He says Morales lost control of the car on Highway 56 outside Honey Grove, and his car rolled several times as a result of emergency speeds.

Deater says he was still conscious when other deputies got to the scene, but sustained head injuries. He was taken to a Paris hospital and released early Sunday morning with bruises and minor cuts.

He says Morales recently joined the force at the Fannin County Sheriff's Office.

Deater says the domestic call was handled by Leonard and Trenton police. DPS troopers are investigating the crash.
