Suspected arson destroys Denison home, damages another

DENISON, Tex. (KXII) - The Ford family was watching TV early Friday morning when they heard some commotion outside. Moments later, the house next door was fully engulfed in flames.

"When that happened, I was trying to get the fireman to get the hose on this side of the house between the houses to keep mine from catching on fire," said Jesse Ford.

Hours earlier, a fence between the Ford's home was on fire but put out before the homes were damaged.

Two hours later, one house caught fire.

Jesse Ford's game camera on the back of his house was able to catch part of the fire, before it too was destroyed.

During the fire, it damaged half of the Ford's house.

Police say arson is a possibility.

"I believe he had an accelerant because it went up in a hurry. I know the house is old, but the way it went up, it had to be gasoline or something," said Jesse Ford.

No one was hurt by the fire.

The house next door was a total loss.

No one has been arrested, but the Fords think they know who did it.

"He's on drugs, his mind is gone. And they need to put him away," said Jesse Ford.

The Fords say their home is now unlivable.

"We want something done. We've got family here close by, and I am not going to put them in danger," said Regina Ford.

A representative from the Denison fire department says they will call the State Fire Marshall to help with the investigation.
