Firefighters in Marshall County battled a barn fire as well as triple digit temperatures Monday afternoon.

Kingston Fire Chief James Kuykendall says paramedics were called on standby to help firefighters stay cool and hydrated as they battle the flames in the hot weather.

Several fire departments were on scene for over two hours drinking water and Gatorade and using wet rags to cool off.

The barn on Sanders Road had about 500 bales of hay inside, making it hard to put out. They were concerned it could have started a large grass fire, but they've kept it contained to the barn.

Damages are expected to be anywhere from $80,000-$100,000.

Kuykendall says firefighters will stay on scene into the evening to completely put out this fire, but as of now it is contained.

The cause is still under investigation.
