CARTER COUNTY, Okla. (KXII) - Springer and Dickson schools announced Wednesday that they will be closed due to illness.

Springer schools will be closed Thursday and Friday due to illness.

Dickson schools will also be closed Thursday and Friday, and they are suspending most extra-curricular activities.

Dickson schools say an increase in flu and strep is behind the shut down.

Dickson officials say the middle and high school basketball teams will still play in games Thursday and Friday.

The two school districts are the eighth and ninth districts in Texoma to close due to the flu and other illnesses.

Of the nine districts, four are in Carter County.

Lone Grove Public Schools closed Thursday and Friday last week and reopened Monday. Ardmore schools closed Tuesday and will reopen next Monday.
