Shelley Duncan waived her right to have a preliminary hearing on Monday. The former Tishomingo teacher was charged in September 2016 of lewd acts with a child.(KXII)

Shelley Duncan, a former teacher, high school cheerleading coach in the Tishomingo school district pleaded not guilty in open court to charges of lewd acts with a child.

She is due back in court on Feb. 9, 2018, ant that is when a judge will decide if the case goes to trial.

Duncan was charged with lewd acts with a child after a complaint was filed in 2016 that she was having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

The mother of a 14-year-old male student filed a complaint with the Tishomingo Police Department, stating that her son was in a relationship with Duncan.

The police department contacted the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to investigate the case.

Duncan was arrested in September 2016. Her teaching license was suspended a short time later by the state board of education.

Duncan is currently out on bond.
