Former Tom Bean councilman pleads guilty for aggravated assault

GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex. (KXII) - A former Tom Bean city councilman has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Ben Vincent was arrested in July 2017 after crashing into a truck.

Police say Vincent was driving erratically on Highway 11 when he hit a Tom Bean ISD truck.

Police suspected Vincent was drunk and arrested him for intoxicated assault and aggravated assault.

Prosecutors dropped the intoxication assault charge in exchange for the guilty plea.

A Grayson county judge will sentence him in March. He faces a maximum of 10 years.

Days prior to his arrest, Vincent had been pulled over in Whitewright and admitted to drinking a full bottle of wine.
