Former longtime Kingston Police Chief passes away at age 75

KINGSTON, Okla. (KXII) - A former Texoma police chief has passed away.

The Kingston Police Department announced former Chief John Canoe died Wednesday.

The department held a fundraiser for him last month to pay for medical bills related to his lung cancer diagnosis.

Canoe retired from the police department at the end of May where he had served 30 years, 28 of those as chief.
