Grayson Co. looking to house inmates out of county

GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex. (KXII) - The Grayson County Jail is almost full, and the county is looking to have some inmates taken off their hands.

Tuesday Grayson County Commissioners will be asked to approve an agreement with Titus County to house Grayson County inmates for $50 a day.

Grayson County has a similar agreement in place with Fannin County.

"The Grayson County Jail has been operating at near capacity for the past couple weeks. We want to make sure that there's a plan in place if we should need to house inmates out of county," said Sherman Police Capt. Sarah Bigham.

Bigham blames population growth in Grayson County for the increase in the jail population.
