DENISON, Tex. (KXII) - A Denison man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a child.
Sean Stubsten, 49, pleaded guilty June 17to one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
In 2018 the Denison police began their investigation after a 12-year-old girl made an outcry Stubsten had sexually assaulted her when she was only 4-years-old.
Stubsten admitted to police he had sexually abused the child.
Assistant District Attorney Donnie Carter says Stubsten had a prior conviction out of South Dakota for sexually assaulting a young girl when he was 19-years-old.
“We commend the State Prosecutors Office in Lawrence South Dakota for assisting our office," said District Attorney Brett Smith. "Their cooperation made it possible for us to prove up the prior child sex offense, ensure this defendant can never harm another child again, and also to provide closure for our victim and her family.”
Stubsten will be eligible for parole after serving 20 years. He must register as a sex offender for life.
