HOWE, Tex. (KXII) - Both candidates running for Grayson County Commissioner -- Precinct one faced-off in a debate in Howe Wednesday night.
The debate featured current county commissioner Jeff Whitemire, and his challenger, Jeremy Roberts.
They tackled topics like plans for taxes, and roads and other infrastructure. The candidates shared with New's 12 their number one priority when it comes to being county commissioner.
Incumant Jeff Whitemire said, "My number one thing, is always about keeping taxes low." "We're driving that Grayson County tax rate down - we've done it four times in a row." Whitemire said.
"Our roads and infrastructure are the most important thing." said candidate Jeremy Roberts. "People are going to come this way, and if we don't take care of our roads and we don't get our infrastructure in the place that it needs to before this growth, then it's going to be an absolute mess." Roberts said.
Early voting begins next Tuesday, Febuary 18th in Grayson County. Both candidates encourage all voters to head to the polls.
