GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex. (KXII) - Sherman and Denison schools are among the top five for graduation rates in the country.

A study done by the National Center for Education Statistics says Sherman and Denison High Schools had a graduation rate of nearly 95%.

Denison ISD Superintendent Dr. Henry Scott says the district's success comes from the parents, teachers and the option for students to take classes at the alternative school.

"It's very encouraging to know this is not just Sherman-Denison, it's pretty much Grayson County that's being determined here that we're doing a really good job," said Scott.

The Sherman-Denison graduation rate is 94.6%, about 5% over the state average and 10% higher than the national average.
