SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - Grayson County's first bilingual preschool is open for its first day.

The MasterKey Bilingual Academy at Crutchfiled Heights Baptist Church teaches classes for three and four-year-olds in both English and Spanish.

The academy is a vision that MasterKey Ministries has had for about six years.

33 students are enrolled.

The program is targeting low-income families and the goal is to help Spanish-speaking natives learn in both Spanish and English.

There is also an all-English class as well. Administrators cannot wait to see how the program grows and say they're already happy with the success.

"I could see that this need in our community cold just explode," said director Helen Shoulders. "I would love to see us carrying a large wait list to show parents are interested in bettering their children's education."

The school still has openings for their English classes.

Class is $25 a day and government help is available.
