Guilty plea accepted in Sherman hotel clerk murder

SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - A plea deal has been made in the 2017 murder of a hotel clerk.

Reginald Campbell, 26, pleaded guilty to capital murder Friday afternoon as part of a plea deal.

The deal gave Campbell life in prison without the possibility of parole, taking the death penalty off the table. He had previously declined the deal in March.

Brandon Hubert was a masters student working the overnight shift at the Quality Inn and Suites when Campbell shot and killed him.

Records say Campbell and two women, Karalyn Cross and Nikeya Grant, were attempting to rob the hotel. The women are still awaiting trial.

Campbell had managed to flee to New York before being caught.
