SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII)-- After hours of deliberating, the jury in the 397th state district court found 25-year-old Tatriauna Roberts guilty in the 1st degree of injury to a child.
During the trial texts revealed how stressful Roberts said it was being a single mother, she even said she didn't think she could keep the infant.
In June 2017 her son, Amari Long was found dead on a blowup mattress.
When first responders first found Amari they say he was cold to the touch.
A medical examiner who testified during the trial said the infant died of starvation and dehydration.
Grayson County District Attorney Brett Smith spoke about the verdict, he said, "I'm just very proud of their efforts, those efforts paid off, this was a tough case but essentially what we have here is a mother who starved her eight week old baby to death."
Roberts will be sentenced in August and could face up to 99 years in prison.
