PARIS, Texas (KXII) -- The city of Paris says there's a long list of improvements needed to be made to Higgins elementary before kids will be allowed inside for the first day of school on Monday.
The building inspection report details 76 problems found by the city engineer, 16 of which must be addressed before students can legally occupy the school.
The fire marshal separately lists 10 areas of concern, 6 of which are listed as critical to complete before school begins on Monday and some with later deadlines of completion.
The report includes concerns as simple as fixing a few lights to replacing whole walls made of combustible material.
The fire marshal has ordered a member of the fire department be present at the school during nighttime or weekend activities until the issues are resolved.
