Hugo woman arrested in Paris for bacon theft, assaulting police

A Hugo woman is in jail after assaulting a police officer in Paris, Tx.

Paris police say they received a call around 3:20 on August 10 that 50-year-old Janice Reed had been putting packages of bacon into her purse and was attempting to leave the Kroger without paying.

They say an officer was placing her under arrest when Reed pushed the officer before attempting to flee in a vehicle.

Police say Reed fought with the officer again before being arrested.

Reed was taken to the Lamar County Jail for theft, resisting arrest and evading arrest with a previous conviction.

The officer suffered minor scrapes and abrasions.
