Illegal immigrant sentenced to life for sexually abusing two young girls
GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas. (KXII) -- According to Jorge Hernandez's confession, he admitted to sexually abusing two girls, eight and nine years-old from 2013 to 2015. He initially denied the abuse, but after a 30 minute interrogation, he cracked.
"It has put a strain on it," says the victim's grandmother Christel Byrd. "You have children that have to go through something and it was terrible but they spoke up and we'll get through it."
Jorge Hernandez, an illegal immigrant, was arrested in December 2016 for sexually abusing an eight and nine year old girl. On Wednesday, he was found guilty.
This is video from Hernadez's police interview. You see here he initially denied abusing the two girls.
"The girls have a made a claim saying that you have touched them in a way that you shouldn't be touching them," says a Denison police detective in the video. "What do you know about that?"
"No, I just hug them like little girls that they are," says Hernandez in the video.
But after a half hour he confessed but said it was the girls who seduced him.
"Yes, Like I told you, she was always trying to find a way to touch me and seduce me," says Hernandez.
"Jorge Hernandez is a monster," says Grayson County Assistant District Attorney Britton Brooks.
Assistant District Attorneys Britton Brooks and Matt Johnson say they hope this trial sends a message to all child molesters.
"Letting them know they will get caught, they will get prosecuted," says Johnson.
"He had no remorse, no sympathy and when that life sentence was read to him, he had no emotion," says Brooks.
Hernandez was sentenced to life in prison without parole. The victims' grandmother says it's a flood of relief knowing Hernandez will never abuse another child again.
"That means that my grand babies are safe," says Byrd. "That means that they have closure, you know it's over its done."
Also according to Hernadez's confession, he admitted to previously being attracted to two young girls in Garland. He says that's why he moved to Denison to get away from them.
