COLBERT, Okla. (KXII) - Colbert's interim police chief, who said his identity was stolen after we found his name linked to neo-Nazi websites, told a Tulsa newspaper he will resign.
The Tulsa World reports Bart Alsbrook told them Saturday via text message he plans to resign both as acting chief and as a reserve officer.
On Friday we reported Grayson County records list a Bart Alsbrook with a Denison address as the owner of two different websites that sell media and memorabilia aimed at skinheads and white nationalists, ISDRecords.com and NS88.com.
Both sites were taken offline within hours after we called Alsbrook about them.
Alsbrook claims a group of skinheads stole his wallet and began using his name after a fight at a heavy metal concert in the 1990s.
Alsbrook was named interim chief last week, the third person to hold the position in Colbert this year.
