Johnston County and Love County citizens can vote Tuesday to continue a 1/4 cent sales tax to support local fire departments.
Voting is from 8 a.m. -6 p.m. Tuesday at the county election board.
The orginal tax was approved five years ago.
The tax proceeds will be used for purchasing and leasing equiptment, supplies, fuel, utilities and maintenance for existing buildings.
If the tax is renewed, 75 percent of the tax will be divided equally among all of the county fire departments.
Twelve and one half percent of the tax will go into a special account for fire chiefs for emergency use, and another 12 1/2 percent of the tax will be placed in an account for County Commissioners Board for the benefit of the fire departments.
