ARDMORE, Okla. -- There is one week left of June's "Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat" national campaign. The Ardmore Animal Shelter is celebrating with 50 percent off all cat and kitten adoptions.

Adopters can walk away with a feline companion for about $20. This includes a spay or neuter, a rabies shot. and a wellness check.

The shelter has adopted out 42 cats since June 1. Currently there are 58 cats at the shelter still available.

But Shelter Director Jeannine Jackson says it doesn't matter if you're a cat person or a dog person. If you want a pet, you should adopt.

"We have so many, such a big variety of cats and dogs, and we take in about 7,000 a year." Jackson said.

The shelter will be having a night-time adoption from 5 -8 p.m. on June 30. This is to help those that can't make it during normal hours. The 50 percent off special for cats will still be included that night.
