Jury convicts ex-Push Co. jailer of rape for having sex with inmate

ANTLERS, Okla. (KXII) - A Pushmataha County jury convicted a former female jailer of second degree rape for having sex with a male inmate after a two-day trial.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the Pushmataha County Sheriff’s Office requested their assistance last May with an investigation relating to allegations of sexual misconduct in the jail.

The sheriff’s office received reports that 30-year-old Ashley Elizabeth Parra, a Pushmataha County detention officer, had sexual contact with an inmate in the jail.

As a result of the OSBI investigation, Parra was arrested the same day.

Parra’s trial began Monday, and it took jurors less than an hour to reach a guilty verdict.

Parra has been remanded to the custody of the Pushmataha County Sheriff’s Office until sentencing, which is scheduled for June 26.

She faces 1 to 15 years in prison.
