Lamar Co. father sentenced to 40 years for daughter's death

LAMAR COUNTY, Tex. (KXII) - A Lamar County man pleaded guilty Monday in the shooting death of his daughter.

Claude Edward Sidddle Jr pleaded guilty to murder Monday. A judge sentenced him to 40 years in prison.

In June, officials found Penny Siddle, 51, at a house on FM 1506, just west of CR 22910.

Assistant District Attorney Benjamin I. Kaminar said in a press release Claude shot his daughter in the chest with a shotgun because she wanted to use the car to drive to Dallas.

Deputies found Claude outside the house around the same time and arrested him.

Claude will be eligible for parole in 20 years.

"Neither this office nor Siddle himself believe he will live long enough to even be considered for parole," Kaminar said.
