Latta Public Schools celebrates 100 years

ADA, Okla. (KXII) - Latta Public Schools celebrated its centennial Friday night.

The district opened in 1920, so they celebrated 100 years by welcoming back all their former students to roam the halls once again.

Latta Superintendent Cliff Johnson says the Panthers honored the John Latta family who donated the land to make Latta High Schools.

Lee Fields, the youngest granddaughter of John Latta, visited the campus and said her grandfather would be proud of what the school has become.

"I think he would be real humble and say he wasn't doing anything anybody else wouldn't do. He was just thinking about the kids and thinking about their education," Lee said.

The Latta family says they are looking forward to the next 100 years of Latta Public Schools.
