Local church donates clothing to Sherman ISD

SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - A Sherman church donated around 1,200 items of clothing to Sherman ISD Tuesday to help students in need.

The Friendship United Methodist Church has been collecting socks and underwear for elementary-aged kids for around four years.

Pastor Roy Spore says several years ago a counselor in a community he was serving made him aware of what the schools really need.

"We always gave school supplies, and I took the school supplies down one day and she said, 'You know, school supplies are great but we get school supplies all the time, could you bring us some underwear or some socks,'" said Spore.

This is the first year the church is working directly with Sherman ISD to give to students in the community.
