MARIETTA, Okla. (KXII) - It's one of the busiest times of the year for local flower shops like Rodney's Flowers and Gifts.
Tuesday night they received close to 200 orders and the calls are still coming in.
"This is probably the funniest holiday that we get to do," Rodney Pennington said.
Owner Rodney Pennington says the shop makes over a quarter of their annual sales during Valentines week.
"We actually calculated orders last night just to prepare to see if we needed to order more flowers and we were sitting at about 380 orders last night," Pennington said. "Our two biggest days are yet to come."
Pennington says Valentine's day and the day before bring in the most money for the shop, following not too far behind is Mother's Day.
He says some popular gifts are their rainbow-colored flowers, candy baskets and of course the classic dozen roses.
"We have flower arrangements that start off at $15 and go up to sky's the limit," Pennington said.
Pennington says sales are already up from last year.
He predicts this year's holiday sales will be one of the highest the store has made in its nearly 20 years of being open.
He says it's because of good weather and customers like Anthony Johnson.
"We've been married for almost 6 years and I've been coming up here for 6 years," Johnson said. "I just wanted to tell my wife thank you for 6 years, I love you. Every day is valentines days with you."
Pennington says they will be accepting orders all day tomorrow until products sell out.
