MADILL, Okla. (KXII) - A Madill restaurant served a free Thanksgiving breakfast Thursday morning to say thank you to the Southern Oklahoma community.

For the fifth year, people filled Hobo Joe’s restaurant for their annual free pancake breakfast.

Everything is free, and tips are always encouraged, but each dollar given on Thanksgiving day at Hobo Joe’s will be donated to a family in need.

The donation will be made in the coming weeks.

"The community gives us so much and we love to show them and return. Just serving them and letting us serve them is a great opportunity for us,” said Courtnie Combs, Hobo Joe’s owner and operator.

Restaurant visitors like Mary Butler’s family said her family has their own families, and coming by to the pancake breakfast brought everyone together before they eat their Thanksgiving meals.

"We're going to make it our new family tradition,” said Butler. "It's a great way for us to get together on Thanksgiving morning before everyone goes their separate ways."

Every year since 2014, combs and her team comprised of family, friends and kids (The workers have the day off) have always donated their tips from customers to help a family in need.

This year, Courtnie’s team raised over $300.

"We just kind of be sensitive to the Holy Spirit as he's speaking to us,” said Combs. “If we see a family that comes in need and coming through the door, we meet and greet them. And if we found that person, we give them the money,” said Combs.
