ADA, Okla. (KXII) - An Allen, OK man who fatally shot a man in July has been charged with murder.

Jimmy Louis Northcutt Jr., 41, was charged with second-degree murder Friday for allegedly shooting and killing Brian Doherty near a licensed marijuana growing facility outside Ada.

An affidavit states Northcutt was flying his drone over the property to mess with his ex-girlfriend and Doherty.

When Northcutt went to retrieve the drone he broke into a building and says that's when Doherty shot him in the back.

Police say Northcutt fired back with a handgun, striking Doherty three times, killing him.

Northcutt was taken into custody on unrelated charges after being released from the hospital.
