FANNIN COUNTY, Tex. (KXII) - A man is in jail for shooting his father after an argument in Fannin County Saturday morning.

Lt. Frank Deater with the Fannin County Sheriff's Office says it happened around 5 a.m. on County Road 1135 in Ravenna.

He says 41-year-old Timothy Neal Nichols got into a verbal argument with his dad 64-year-old Alvin Nichols.

Deater says the argument started when Alvin insulted Timothy's wife, so Timothy shot Alvin in the leg with a handgun.

Deputies arrived and performed CPR on Alvin, who was taken to a local hospital.

Timothy was arrested and taken to the Fannin County Jail for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
