Man convicted of killing Okla. trooper in 1970 is up for parole

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) -- A man convicted of killing an Oklahoma State Trooper in Carter County nearly fifty years ago is up for parole this week.

After the homicide in 1970, now-69-year-old Hubert Wilkinson was charged with two counts of murder in the first degree and kidnapping.

Wilkinson and his brother had just murdered a man when they were pulled over outside of Lone Grove by Trooper Howard Crumley.

While searching the car, Crumley was disarmed and then shot and killed with his own handgun.

Wilkinson was was denied parole in 2014.

The Parole Board says this week's verdict will be announced next Monday.
