Man faces charges after shooting in Kingston

KINGSTON, Okla. (KXII)- Marshall County Sheriff Danny Cryer says 21-year-old Trace Fisher was drinking with some other men at a bar at the Marina del Rey Resort just before 3 a.m. Sunday morning, when Fisher got in his truck to leave.

Cryer says the men thought Fisher was too drunk to drive, and when one of them tried to stop him from leaving, Fisher shot the man once in the face.

"Once my deputies arrived on the scene, they had found a 26-year-old male who had been shot in the face at close range, very close to the bar area," said Cryer.

Cryer says after Fisher shot the victim, he drove through a grass field and then crashed into a storage shed 100 yards away, then ran into a neighborhood. He says the woman who turned Fisher in to deputies on scene, was his mom.

"We were approached by a female who had explained to us her son had just come home, was very shaken up, very scared saying he had just shot someone," said Cryer.

The victim was taken by ambulance to TMC, then to a hospital in Plano.

"He's still not able to talk due to the bullet wound to his mouth, but seems to be recovering ok at this time," said Cryer.

Cryer says his office initially filed charges of shooting with intent to kill, but the district attorney charged Fisher with assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

Fisher's first court appearance is set for November.
