BELLS, Tex. (KXII) -- First responders said the accident happened at about 8:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 69 near Katy Road between Bells and Whitewright.

Authorities said John Mozelle was driving the motorcycle north when they said they thought he tried to pass a car in front of him.

That's when, authorities said, Mozelle tried to avoid hitting a car head-on, swerved back into his lane and rear ended the car in front of him.

Mozelle was ejected about 300 feet and was flown to a trauma center in critical condition. According to Texas Department of Public Safety Officer Mark Tackett, Moezlle is expected to survive.
