DURANT, Okla. (KXII) -- Police said 84-year-old Bobby Burrow of Mesquite, Texas, was struck in the southbound lane of U.S. Highway 75 just after 10 p.m. Monday.

Authorities said Burrow, who suffered from dementia, was at the Choctaw Casino with his wife and another woman when he wandered away from them.

He was hit and died instantly.

Police said the driver of the car told them he was on his way back from a funeral in Missouri when the accident occurred, and that he never saw Burrow.

Police said the driver was shaken up, but otherwise okay.

The accident remains under investigation.
