Man killed in Johnston County industrial accident identified

JOHNSTON COUNTY, Okla. (KXII) - A man killed after an accident at a Johnston County construction site has been identified.

John Childress, 29, of Mead, Okla. was killed after being hit by equipment that came loose from a crane.

Childress worked for R.B. Construction and Metal Fabrication, LLC., which had been hired to move silos on private property on Burnett Road.

Undersheriff Gary Dodd says they were called to the property around 3 p.m. Wednesday about a mishap involving a crane.

Life-saving efforts were made, but Childress was pronounced dead on the scene.

The county says there is no evidence of foul play. They are calling it an unfortunate industrial accident.
