GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex. (KXII) - A North Texas man was sentenced to 35 years in prison in Grayson County for continuous sexual abuse of a child.
Sherman police arrested 36-year-old James Elmore of Caddo Mills after an investigation revealed he had been sexually abusing a minor child over the span of five years.
The investigation began in December 2018 after the 12-year-old victim came forward.
Police discovered Elmore was already a registered sex offender and had served time for a prior child sex crime.
During an interview with police, Elmore admitted to sexually abusing the child.
“This defendant has demonstrated that sex offenders cannot be rehabilitated. The only punishment that protects the community is his being in prison,” said Assistant District Attorney Matt Rolston.
