Melissa woman sentenced for income tax fraud scheme

SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - A woman in Melissa has been sentenced to federal prison for tax fraud.

Demetrice Hodges, 39, was sentenced to 65 months in federal prison on Jan. 24. Hodges was also ordered to pay restitution of $343,824.49 to the IRS.

In May, Hodges pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud and aggravated identity theft charges.

Hodges had purchased personal identifying information in 2016 that was used to electronically file income tax returns using the stolen identities.
