Motorcyclist arrested after high-speed chase in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Tex. (KXII) - A man was booked into the Cooke County Jail Tuesday after leading authorities on a high speed motorcycle chase.

Gainesville police say they attempted to pull James Lewis over on Grand Ave. around noon Tuesday for riding a motorcycle without a license plate.

Officers say Lewis took off and headed north, getting on Interstate 35.

The chase lasted 10 minutes and reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour while weaving through traffic.

Cooke County Deputies stopped Lewis near the 500 mile marker.

Lewis was arrested for evading.
