WHITESBORO, Texas (KXII) -- The SPCA of Texas said 59 animals were taken Saturday from a homeowner on Jewel Lane.

The animals included cats, dogs, horses and rats.

SPCA officials said they were responding to a call from the Grayson County Sheriff's Department, and the owner turned the animals over to the SPCA willingly.

SPCA spokespersons said some of the animals had access to food and water, some didn't.

Some animals, the spokesperson said, lived in squalor, others didn't.

GCSO officers said animal cruelty charges could be filed.
