New cultural cuisine in Sherman and more eateries on the way

SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - A new restaurant is bringing Cuban culture to downtown Sherman and a couple others could be coming to town.

Mariposa Cuban Cuisine opened a week ago on Houston Street.

They're serving up Carribean flavors and foods, which are more sweet than spicy.

Co-owner Jennifer Serrato said they're known for their cafe con leche and Cuban sandwiches.

"We get so used to eating fast food, but there's very small locations where you can actually get in there and feel like you're at home and comfortable," Serrato said. "And enjoy the food and be able to drink coffee afterwards, and just feel comfortable, listen to some music and that's what I wanted."

The City of Sherman said Jimmy's Egg and Texas tea franchise HTeaO are also considering opening locations.
